Pasta with Salmon at the Cafe Van Gogh

Probably one of the most thought about subjects when thinking about the South of France, and in particular about Provence, is food. How to grow it, how to buy it, and how to cook it. Here is our list of cooking classes, workshops, and market tours that will not only help you learn more about this subject, it will give you a delightful travel experience that you can carry with you for the rest of your life.

Les Petits Farcis

Market tours, cooking classes, food and wine tours in Nice, France, given by food critic and cookbook author Rosa Jackson.

Patricia Wells

Patricia is the American-born food critique for The International Herald Tribune, has written a number of cookbooks and is based in Paris. She offers one week cooking classes that take place in her renovated artist’s studio on the rue Jacob. She also teaches for a few weeks each year in her Provençal home in the South of France. The classes are taught in English.

Hostellerie de Crillon le Brave

Five half-day, hands-on cooking classes in the Hostellerie’s restaurant kitchen, conducted in English by Chef Philippe Monti, a native of Provence. Classes are limited to small groups and some excursions might include truffle hunting, wine tastings, visits to village markets and to the studios of Provence’s best artists and artisans, and more.

The Ecole De Cuisine at Mas de Cornud

From the web site: Courses are taught by a variety of certified culinary professionals who work with students of all levels and inspire confidence in their cooking skills. Students are taken from basics to advanced cookery in an exceptionally well equipped kitchen in the setting of a farmhouse in Provence with its own herb and kitchen garden. They also offer Culinary Tours.
